Terms of Use
Transcripts is free. These terms cover the app and this website; they are short because the app does its work on your Mac, iPhone or iPad and keeps what it records there.

The licence
The source code is public under the MIT License, which applies when you build the app yourself. Once Transcripts is in the App Store, the app from there is licensed to you under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the Standard EULA). The points below add to it and don't replace it; where they differ, the Standard EULA applies.
Recording other people
You decide what the app records, and you are responsible for it. Before you record a conversation, tell the people in it, and ask for their consent wherever the law requires it. In Germany, for example, recording words that aren't spoken in public without consent is a criminal offence (§ 201 StGB), and other countries have similar rules. If you record at work, your organisation's rules apply too.
The app never starts a recording by itself. The reminder when a meeting begins and the notice when a call starts only ask.
Transcripts can be wrong
Transcripts, the names given to voices and the summaries are made automatically and can be wrong: a word misheard, a line given to the wrong person, a decision summed up badly. Check what matters before you rely on it or pass it on.
Summary services
If you have summaries written by Anthropic, OpenAI or Google, you do so with your own account and API key. Their terms apply to that, and what they charge is between you and them. The app sends them only what the privacy policy describes.
Independent
Transcripts is an independent app. It is not made, endorsed or sponsored by Apple, Zoom, Microsoft, Google, Anthropic, OpenAI or any other company whose service it works with; their names are trademarks of their owners.
Availability
The app is offered free of charge and as it is, without a promise of particular features, of working with every call app and Mac, or of being available at all times.
